We've reached the end of Nick Cutter's journey in Primeval. He's gone from being a cheerful academic  at the CMu, with surprised hair, to a dinosaur hunter at a secret government facility. Along the way, he's lost his best friend, found his ex-wife, and changed the course of evolution. After this, things will never be the same.

Tonight we reach the penultimate episode of in which Cutter makes an appearance. Sadly, as his second-to-last episode, it's a bit pants. He's only in it for about six and a half minutes, for a start :-(

Here we are at last in series 3, a less than happy place for a Cutter fan. Still the opening episode of S3 does have its moments.  Here we are at the last episode of the second series, and everything has gone a bit pear-shaped. Our heroes are in Leek's clutches, and Stephen thinks all his friends are dead.

 Aaaaaaaaaangst!!

The penultimate episode of series 2 has a mammoth, a car bomb, and Cutter pointing a gun at Jenny, among other things. Cutter punches Stephen, Stephen kisses Helen, and Lester gets up close and personal with a Future Predator let loose in the ARC.

Tonight we arrive at episode 2.04, in which Stephen is heroic, Nick behaves badly and gets fired, and everyone in the team gets wet.

This episode is great for angst fans. It has some lovely Nick-Jenny interaction, Abby in peril, Connor in slow-motion (silly, but fun), and some terrific lines from Lester. It also has some rather wonky plotting. ( Read more... )

Thought I would post this a bit earlier today.

Episode 2.03, in which  Cutter and Stephen have a disagreement, Jenny is menaced by big dogs and Connor shoots a pretend lion in the forehead.

I like this ep. The CGI is perhaps not as good as in some other eps, but creatures with hair or fur are notoriously difficult to do, and within the limitations of ( Read more... )

Angst Ahoy!

Series 2 begins with a bowling ball, a raptor's foot, and a bit of a recap, obviously shot at the same time as the last episode, which is also the case for the continuance of the previous year's cliffhanger. In the pre-credit sequence, Cutter still has Surprised Hair. Afterwards, as he walks into the ARC, it's changed to a fringe. ( Read more... )
